Sorry. things are going be to slim this week, but I have to help get some free Comic book Day work done before heading to the twin Cities for a wedding this weekend, where I will also take advantage of not being at work for FCBD to… check out some other stores’ FCBD events!

Here it is. My quick and dirty guide to being an amazing free Comic book Day customer, affectionately known as…

“Josh Crawley’s guide to Being an amazing free Comic book Day Customer!”

Free Comic book day is hectic, and this is how you can help!

1. pace yourself. We have free comics all day, and most of them (see number 3 below) we have all day. creating a line of awesomely crazed comic book fans is cool, but it also creates a bottleneck that makes it a bit more dangerous for everyone involved.

2. Be polite to everyone. speak clearly and concisely, especially to your fellow shoppers; “excuse me” can go a long ways. It can also avoid incidents like thing having to lay the smack down on Hulk for thinking Hulk was talking trash about Aunt Petunia when he was just saying he liked marigolds better than petunias.

3. It’s totally amazing to let us know in advance if you’re worried about us running out of something… even February. That’s about when we’re placing our orders for free comics! This also works well if you want to celebrate your favorite comics by purchasing a lot of them and handing them out yourself. We once had a customer (Hi, Brian!) who purchased 75 copies of the Oni press Scott Pilgrim FCBD book because he enjoyed the book that much and wanted to share! speaking of sharing…

4. share with your fellow fans, and don’t be greedy. While the comics are free to you, we have to pay for them. While it isn’t a lot, we do buy a lot of them, and we’d like to get them to a lot of people. If you wanted to pay us back you could always…

5. Feed us; ideally, the easier, cleaner, and more transportable the better. Bottled water is amazing because we can re-hydrate and close the bottle up, and re-hydrate some more. Cookies are terrific because we can boost our blood sugar for a while. Food & beverage items that have to stay warm or cold for extended periods aren’t so great, as we are never really sure when we may have a chance to eat it.

That’s it for this guide! I’m sure I’ll have it refined for next year, but until then, read some terrific comics!
